A Musical History Presentation…

You are all invited to join us at Londonprintstudios (425 Harrow Road) from 7pm on Thursday 5th August for a very musical evening of history….

Londonprintstudios are currently holding ‘Groove Grove Graphics’, an exhibition about the growth of the London and local music scenes which showcases some of the sounds and imagery of musical culture over the past century. To accompany this, North Paddington History Group is supporting a Tom Vague Musical presentation and slideshow of North Paddington’s musical history. This event is free and will be accompanies by wine and nibbles. It is suitable for participants from the musical history walk and others who are new to the subject.

So…. come and hear the soundtrack of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, check out the exhibition and get some details on our musical heritage! We hope to see you there!

Never tried singing but wish you had? Enjoy singing and want to develop your voice? Want to sing with others in your community? If you live or work in Harrow Road ward and want to get vocal, then this is for you! Come along to the free taster session hosted by Wigmore Hall to raise your voices and find out more. Participants will work with singer Isabelle Adams and pianist Sam Chaplin, join in with fun vocal warm ups, rousing songs and simple harmonies, and find out about the new Harrow Road Community Choir starting in January 2010. All through the month of September, Tuesdays were Pensioners Day! The over 60s were able to pop down to Maida Hill Café for discounted snacks and refreshments, plus free games on the piazza including Petanque, dominoes and playing cards.

Around the Piano…

Following the enormous success of the ‘Street Piano’ initiative, with over 500 people having spent time playing our piano over the three week period, we are pleased to announce that the instrument will be remaining outside the Maida Hill Gallery Cafe.

Under the new name of  ‘Around the Piano’, it will be possible to book a slot to play either by emailing the Harrow Road Partnership at hrnp@ghg.org.uk or by writing a booking on the blackboard outside the cafe (while you’re at it why not pop in for a drink.)

This piano is for everybody to use; whether you are a complete beginner or a professional pianist; whether you are eighty or eight months old…

Irish Day

Almost 500 people came and “enjoyed the Craic!” at the first ever Harrow Road Neighbourhood Partnership Irish Day, Sunday July 26th. The local community turned up in force to support this free afternoon of entertainment, which featured live Irish music by Ron & Joyce and David White; Irish Dancers from the Murphy Diggins School of Dancing; as well as abundant food and refreshments.

Irish Day was supported by The Prince of Wales Pub, Angies II and St. Joseph’s R.C. Primary School.
