Timebank: ‘We Love Our Planet’

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

North Paddington Timebank successfully participated to another fantastic community event. ‘We Love Our Planet’, celebrating diversity in North Westminster. Last Saturday 24th July, the Queens Park primary school courtyard was filled with many stalls offering useful information about; recycling, energy efficiency, low carbon zone and health promotion. Children had a fun time on the bouncy castle along with arts and crafts activities. Dr Bike gave workshops on bicycle maintenance. Everybody enjoyed pedalling to power the smoothie bike for a tasty and healthy fruit shake.

Timebank is a community engagement programme in the North Paddington area, enabling local residents to exchange time and skills. During the lively event people came to the Timebank stall to discover they can help each other within the neighbourhood. Current Timebanking activities include; gardening, guitar workshop, language practice, knitting, walking/fitness.
Also Timebank runs a second hand stall at Maida Hill Market every Tuesday 12 till 3pm. Come and join other Timebank members and get rid of stuff cluttering your home.
Book early to secure your place. Contact Paola for more information on 0208 968 5543.

Come and join us in the next community event:

Maida Hill Winter Festival

Thursday, December 10th, 2009
December 12, 2009
3:00 pmto7:00 pm

The Maida Hill Winter Festival was a great success, despite the – very seasonal – rain and chill. It was great to get a glimpse of Santa as he distributed presents around the Market with his band of helpers, and to join in with a rousing chorus of carols sung by the Community Choir and friends. It was even ok that all our toes went numb, as we were warmed by complimentary mulled juices and mince pies. But, as always, the best moment of all was after the countdown, as the fabulous Christmas lights (funded by Harrow Road’s Ward Councillors) came on. The mythical button was pressed by not one but two special guests- Fasial Islam (Channel 4 News) and The Lord Mayor of Westminster joined us in celebrating the festive season. Special thanks also to Karen Buck MP, and councillors Ruth Bush and Guthrie Mckie, who came along to raise a glass and support the event.
