Watering Rota – save our plants!

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

As you’ll have noticed, we have some lovely new planters at Maida Hill Market. The Gardening Action Group have also been doing some planting around trees, in street planters and on estates in the area – but now they need your help!

If you can offer 15 minutes of your time once a week to help to water some plants you can earn one Timebank credit a month – at the moment you could use that to get a free jewelry-making class, learn a new language for an hour, or come along to a free football training session (and more!).

Watering the plants is easy – there are two watering cans and a tap under Maida Hill Cafe, and there will soon be a hose to attach to a tap on the market itself. You’ll need to let us know if you plan on using these so that we can introduce you to the Cafe owners – they’ll then be able to let you in to collect the cans or hose when needed. Simples!

The current rota for the market is up online here - you can comment with your availability below, or email us at hrnp@genesisha.org.uk if you’d like to volunteer to plant or water other lovely plants around the Harrow Road ward…

Get Gardening!

Friday, July 16th, 2010

HRNP recently met with a number of local residents to talk about ways to improve the local environment, and one suggestion that came through was for the community to get greening and planting – in communal areas, around trees, in front gardens and window boxes…. we’re looking for intrepid gardeners who want to brighten up their streets.

One big project will be finding empty, unloved or unused spaces which need planting up – we’ll then be supporting the coordination of groups to get out there and start bringing out the blooms. If you have any ideas, or want to get involved, please get in touch!
