Join us at Maida Hill Market from 2-6pm for a day of free Irish fun, food and frolics for all the family.

With live music from David White and others, Irish Dancing from the Murchu-Duiginn School of Dance, and a free BBQ, this is an event not to be missed. Last year over 400 people danced and sang at the biggest Irish event Maida Hill has ever seen… lets make this year even bigger!

Everyone is welcome, and the event is suitable for people of all ages.

Halloween Day

On Halloween day Maida Hill was transformed with themed stalls, arts & crafts, spooky face-painting, pumpkins galore, and more…

We carved over 100 pumpkins and bought everything from themed cakes to spooky flowers – and despite the chill, more than 50 of you sat still long enough to get your faces painted!

The Ramblers Association comes to Maida Hill

Commencing Sunday 15 November, 9.45am – 5.30pm

Britain’s biggest ramblers’ society launches a new project for Harrow Road ward residents to introduce people to the joys of walking in London’s green spaces and the countryside. The first event is a short, guided walk around Richmond Park (the largest Royal Park in London and home to 600 roaming deer), followed by a free tour of 17th century built Ham House. Residents can join the group at Maida Hill Market Piazza (Elgin Ave) on Sun. 15 Nov @ 9.45am. This is a free event and transport to and from Richmond Park is provided. Family Day Success!

Locals of all ages enjoyed a Family Day hosted by Harrow Road Neighbourhood Partnership on Sunday 9th August at Maida Hill Piazza W9. With puppet shows by Moon Carrot, live animals from Stepping Stone Farm, African Mask making hosted by Paradise Wrapping, street performers from the Dew Drop Theatre, displays by Capoeria Canal experts, gardening sessions, face painting, and penalty shootouts with the Fernhead Rovers – the day was a sun-filled success. The event also had a surprise visit from a large group of Hyde Park skaters, who delighted the Piazza with their skills.

Come along for…

Gardening Workshop/Seed Sowing: Children will have the opportunity to paint their own designs on pots, while their parents will be help to help to plant the seeds.

Puppet Show: Moon Carrot are a Hertford based company with over 12 years professional experience, having performed at a wide range of festivals, promotions and events. They will be performing three glove puppet shows throughtout the day.

Capoeira:

Capoeira can be a way of life; it is an opportunity to get fit, develop skills, have fun and feel well in body, mind and spirit.’

Capoeira canal are a local group who run classes at the Tabernacle, Powis Square. They will be demonstrating the art of Capoeira 1-3pm

Petting zoo: Steppingstone Farm will be bringing an assortment of animals including, but not limited to, a goat, a ferret and a duck!

Mothers’ Pampering: 15 ten minute massages will be awarded as randomly selected prizes especially for mothers. Massages will begin at 2pm.

Face painting with Tracey

Penalty Shootout: Fernhead Rovers FC will be holding a penalty shootout throughout the afternoon. The club, who train at Queen’s Park, are currently looking for players for all age groups. If you would like to know more, you can contact Derek on 020 8968 4863.

Mask Making: Paradise Wrapping will be running African Masking making workshops between 3-5pm. They will be using sheets of paper that are based on original woven Kente cloths, originating from Ghana in West Africa. These designs are vivid, striking and evoke one’s creativity when used.

Irish Day

Almost 500 people came and “enjoyed the Craic!” at the first ever Harrow Road Neighbourhood Partnership Irish Day, Sunday July 26th. The local community turned up in force to support this free afternoon of entertainment, which featured live Irish music by Ron & Joyce and David White; Irish Dancers from the Murphy Diggins School of Dancing; as well as abundant food and refreshments.

Irish Day was supported by The Prince of Wales Pub, Angies II and St. Joseph’s R.C. Primary School.
