WECH summer festival 09!

Thursday, July 16th, 2009
July 11, 2009

It was great to see so many people at the annual WECH summer festival last week.
This year, there was a new attraction in the form of a climbing wall, in addition to the bouncy castle, football, races, competitions and stalls.
As always, the clown was a hit with our younger residents, mystifying us for hours with his ability to blow up a balloon by pointing at it. For everyone else, the sun, music and atmosphere combined to make a really friendly and relaxing day.crowd of kids
HRNP had three competitions on our stall, aimed at encouraging young people and local residents to find out more about the stalls on offer at the festival and feedback their own views on the market. While two winners were announced on the day, watch this space for the fruits (and the results) of the photo competition.
Thanks to everyone who helped out and came along on the day – and thanks mostly to WECH staff for putting on such a lovley community event. Don’t miss Queens Park Festival in Queens Park Gardens in August, or Queens Park Day in Brent Queens Park in September.

Meet the Neighbours!

Monday, July 21st, 2008

So, you came, you saw, you met your neighbours….

And how was it? From the feedback we’ve recieved about our ‘Posh Do’ on the 17th of July, it seems to have been a big success. London Print Studios welcomed around 100 local residents, workers and community leaders for an evening of conversation, debate and friendship. Information was available about the history of ‘Maida Hill’, current developments at Prince of Wales Junction, and the retail improvements planned for Harrow Rd; while council officials and local councillors were available for questions and comments.

We got through a mammoth amount of lovely food, helpfully supplied by a number of local cafes, and a good few boxes of (posh) wine. But it wasn’t just the refreshments that went down well. From 16 to 76, guests got chatting, and new friends and contacts sprang up throughout the room. It was a really great opportunity to make it really clear what the Neighbourhood Partnership is about, and how we’re working to improve the area. It also allowed us to get to know residents on a personal level, and to try and deal with concerns one-to-one in a non formal setting. Most importantly though, it helped us to remember who it is we work for, and to make sure that we’re doing the right stuff to help you out.

Photos from the event, and more details of the conversations that took place, will soon be up on this site and in local media. Due to immensely positive feedback, we’d welcome your suggestions on the form that the next meet the neighbours event should take, and promise to invite you all back for an even bigger and better event next time!

In the meantime, HRNP would like to thank everyone who helped make the evening such a success, particularly all the staff at the London Print Studios, for providing such a wonderful space for us to meet in.
