Spending Cuts Consultation

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Westminster Council are counsulting on their proposed spending cuts. The ideas include:
- A proposed 2.3 million reduction in the adult home care budget and the reclassification of support qualification criteria for Home Care users. (There is a special meeting being organised by Westminster Local Involvement Network on Sat 20th November from 3pm at St Marks Church (245 Old Marylebone Road) to discuss this.)
 - Plans to decrease the number of street litter bins and reduce the frequency of street cleaning and residential litter collection.
 - The reduction of funding around youth services and work with young offenders.

WCC are asking for comments on the whole strategy, and HRNP will be writing a response. If you would like to contribute, or have a personal/Resident Association view, please get in touch with us or send your comments directly to the address given on the webpage above .

HRNP Exit Survey

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

As you know, HRNP will cease to operate in its current form on April 1st 2011. This means that we will be spending the next six months looking at ways to ensure that residents are still able to meet, take action, get involved and solve local problems after we leave. We have developed a questionnaire for you to fill in with your views, and in the New Year we will be developing recommendations for our Partners and the council on how services and community support should work in the future based on the responses we receive. This means that it is really important that you fill in the questionnaire with as much detail as possible and get it back to us by December 17th.

We realise that there are a lot of questions but your responses will be really important in shaping the way local service operate after April 1st. To show our appreciation of your time we are offering entry to a prize draw for every questionnaire returned and have two competition questions with special prizes up for grabs. If you have any questions or require support in filling in the questionnaire please get in touch.

You can fill the survey in online here, or by contacting the office for a hard copy.

Big Black Bin Consultation – URGENT!

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Westminster City Council want to remove the big black bins (BBBs) at the corner of Walterton Road and Warlock Road, and on Walterton Road near Shirland Road. They planned to do this on the week beginning Oct 11th – but since local Councillors and HRNP raised concerns about the removal the decision has been delayed by another week!

Harrow Road Neighbourhood Partnership thinks that it is really important that your views are taken into account in this process – so, despite the short timescale, we would really appreciate it if you could answer the questions below and return your thoughts to us by the new date of Sunday 17th October. We want to ensure that the Council hears your views, and that everyone is still able to dispose of their waste conveniently and any concerns around dumping or placement of bins can be addressed.

Our new Environmental Action Plan

Friday, July 16th, 2010

We recently met with a number of local residents to discuss the environment in Harrow Road. Don’t be fooled into imagining that this was a chat about squirrels or farming – we live in urban surroundings and our environment is everything around us – from open spaces and parks to buildings, streets and houses. We had a great, wide ranging discussion covering issues including littering, rubbish collection, empty flowerbeds, shopfronts, front gardens, paving, gardening, dog mess and more….

You can check out the resulting action plan here. Let us know what you think – and if you’d like to get involved!

‘Meet the Neighbours’

Monday, February 8th, 2010
February 25, 2010
6:00 pmto9:00 pm

HRNP organised the WCC funded Meet The Neighbours which was attended by over 100 residents from Harrow Road ward. The event gave residents the opportunity to meet their neighbours and local Community Safety officers from WCC and Met Police, in the relaxed environment of the London Print Studio.

The event’s aims were to assess how much fear of crime is an issue in the neighbourhood, an opportunity to raise any local concerns, and also help reassure residents by building a sense of community and neighbourliness.

Residents shared their experiences of living in Harrow Road by completing WCC’s especially designed questionnaire. Speeches from HRNP, WCC and Met Police welcomed residents and gave updates on useful community information. Refreshments and jazz music enabled the relaxed and pleasant atmosphere as WCC and Met Officers talked to individuals / families about any concerns and build positive relationships.

Feedback from residents was overwhelmingly positive, many residents signed up to HRNP’s Street Reps scheme to become more actively engaged in community activities and we received a number of requests to host similar evenings in the future.

We need your views!

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
The open space by Costcutters on the corner of Elgin Avenue and Harrow Road used to be known as the Prince of Wales Junction…. Now its looking beautiful and hosting a lovely market, we think it needs a bit of a name change. We’d like to standardise the way we refer to the area around the market so everyone knows where events and opportunities are taking place – and we need your help!

Please give us your views below….
